Trips

Durante il nostro viaggio in Scozia, non siamo rimasti solo a Edimburgo ma abbiamo visitato 3 diverse località. Generalmente partivamo alle 9 con il pullman e dovevamo tornare per le 17 per cenare con le nostre famiglie. 

 

Primo viaggio, Glasgow

Il 21 siamo stati a Glasgow ma sfortunatamente non abbiamo potuto visitare la città perché era bloccata a causa di alcune manifestazioni.

Quindi abbiamo visitato il Science Center dove abbiamo assistito ad uno spettacolo al planetario.

Poi siamo stati al Riverside museum che è formato da un museo di trasporti e un museo in una barca!

Al ritorno, ci siamo fermati in un punto panoramico per vedere tre ponti che uniscono la capitale con la regione del Fife a nord e rappresenta una delle arterie principali tra il nord-est e il sudest del Paese.

 

Secondo viaggio, Loch Lomond and New Lanark

Il 22 siamo andati a Loch Lomond: il più grande lago in Gran Bretagna situato nelle Lowlands, nel sud della Scozia. La seconda fermata è stata New Lanark: un villaggio sul fiume Clyde nel Lanarkshire e circa 25 miglia (40 km) a sud-est di Glasgow. Fu fondata nel 1786 da David Dale, che costruì cotonifici e case per gli operai del mulino.

 

Terzo viaggio, Saint Andrews

 Il 26 siamo andati a Saint Andrews, una città sulla costa orientale della regione del Fife in Scozia, a 30 miglia (50 km) a nord-est di Edimburgo. Prima di tutto abbiamo visto la Cattedrale di Sant'Andrea con il suo bellissimo cimitero, poi abbiamo iniziato una passeggiata lungo la costa fino ad arrivare ad una grande spiaggia. Il tempo nuvoloso e il mare agitato, ci hanno regalato la migliore vista di un paesaggio scozzese che avremmo mai potuto desiderare!

During our trip in Scotland, we didn’t stay only in Edinburgh but we visited three different localities.

Usually we moved at 9am in the morning by bus, and we had to came back at about 5pm to have dinner with our families. 

 

First trip, Glasgow

On the 21 we went to Glasgow but unfortunately we couldn’t visit the city beacause it was blocked beacause of demonstrations.

So we saw the Science Center, where we took part in a show at the planetarium.

Then we visited the Riverside Museum, that is composed by a transport museum and a museum in a boat! 

On our way back we stopped to a panoramic viewpoint to look at the three bridges: they connect the capital with the Fife region to the north and is one of the main arteries between the north-east and south-east of the country.

 

Second trip, Loch Lomond and New Lanark

On the 22 we went to Loch Lomond: the biggest lake in Great Britain located in Lowlands, in the South of Scotland.

The second stop was to New Lanark: a village on the River Clyde in Lanarkshire and some 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Glasgow , Scotland. It was founded in 1786 by David Dale, who built cotton mills and housing for the mill workers.

 

Third trip, Saint Andrews

On the 26 we went to Saint Andrews,a town on the east coast of Fife in Scotland, 30 miles (50 km) northeast of Edinburgh.

First of all we have seen St Andrews Cathedral with its beautiful cemetary, then we started a walk along the coast until we got to a large beach.

 

The cloudy weather and the rough sea, gave us the best view of a scottish landscape we could ever ask for!

Glasgow

 

  • Polo Scientifico: il museo era pieno di attività interattive. Noi abbiamo visto una mostra sulla galassia al planetario.
  • Barca: abbiamo avuto l'opportunità di camminare su una barca pirata che era ancorata al molo.
  • Museo dei trasporti: davanti alla barca c'era un museo dedicato alla storia di qualsiasi mezzo di trasporto.
  • St. Andrews: St. Andrews è un gioiello di paese baciato dal mare. Abbiamo visitato i resti delle Cattedrale di St. Andrews e il cimitero, abbiamo anche camminato sul bagnasciuga.

Glasgow

 

  • Science Centre: the museum was filled of interactive activities. We saw an exhibition about the galaxy at the planetarium.
  •  Boat: we had the opportunity to walk on a boat that was anchored to the pier.
  • Museum of Transports: in front of the boat there was a museum about the history of all sorts of transports.
  • St Andrew's: St Andrew's is a lovely town touched by the sea. we visited the remains of the St Andrews Cathedral and its cemetery. we also had a walk on the beach.
